ABA Services

Here at Horizons Behaviour Consulting, we work with the parent or caregiver to teach them the necessary skills to find success. In other words, although we are there to work with your child, our primary focus is to educate the parent/caregiver on how to apply behaviour strategies that are needed to help your child maintain and generalize skills.
When you decide to start services, we will first ask you about your goals for your child and establish goals for services. An extensive assessment will then be conducted to:
(1) assess his/her strengths and needs across developmental domains (e.g., communication, cognitive, social play, physical, and self-help).
(2) understand the reason why your child is engaging in problem behaviour.
After the assessment has been completed, we will go over the results with you and discuss the plan for behaviour intervention or treatment. Once we get your approval of that plan, implementation of the behaviour intervention or treatment will begin.

In-Home Focused ABA Services
The clinical team will meet with the parent/caregiver and the child for 2 to 5 hours per week and work on a limited number of behavioural targets (e.g., problem behaviours, functional skills). Services can typically last anywhere between 4 to 6 months.
In-Home Comprehensive ABA Services
The clinical team will meet with the parent/caregiver and the child for 25 to 40 hours per week and work on multiple affected developmental domains (e.g., communicative, social, maladaptive behaviours, etc.). Comprehensive services are more intensive than focused services and can typically last anywhere between 6 months to 2 years.
Telehealth Services
With telehealth (online video conferencing), our clients can have a real‐time, two‐way communication on a secure network. It’s convenient, live and allows families to have help in implementing ABA treatment programs.
Our team of therapists, including a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), will conduct an assessment of client’s current behaviour challenges and implement a treatment plan based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis, to achieve socially significant positive outcomes.
Benefits of Telehealth Services
Home based telehealth allows ABA providers to offer services to geographic areas that typically don’t have access to treatment by ABA providers (e.g., rural areas). In addition, it can help reduce travel related costs and make scheduling appointments easier.
How Telehealth Services Work
Our clinicians are equipped with technology that allows for live video and audio streaming. The parent or guardian will be located in the client’s home while video conferencing live with the therapist.
